Trachycarpus Fortunei

This palm tree is from the fan palm genus.  It is the hardiest of all palm tree species and thrives in northern climates.  It can be found in countries like Canada and Russia where the temperature can dip to -5 degrees below zero!  It grows anywhere between 20 – 40 feet.  The trunk is covered in a loose mat of coarse brown fibers that fall away to reveal a smooth ringed surface as the tree matures.  It is easy to care for, requires very little water and can thrive in partial to full sun areas.  This palm is highly valued by landscapers and can be seen decorating the properties of most 4 and 5 star resorts in Europe and the United States.
